I received a special invite to take a last minute voyage to Park City Utah last week for four days. First and Foremost it was my first time in Park City Utah. What an amazing city! I will be going back next year. I went for an event called Thought Leaders Summit.
Thought Leaders Summit is an invite only; the who’s who of politics, finance, Hollywood and Wall Street.
Aside from dancing next to Bill Murray on the dance floor at famous Harry O’s, I also bumped into Mario Lopez, Pauly Shore, Paris Hilton, LeVar Burton and John C. Reilly. I’m a big fan of LeVar especially from his Reading Rainbow days…it was like a field trip in my living room everyday growing up.
From the second of my arrival I was treated like a king! It was four solid days of VIP treatment…from power networking with some of the greatest business minds ever and some very influential people to special events and afterhours parties exclusive to our group. Red carpet treatment is an understatement. Everything was free…everywhere I went, FREE! We all know free stuff is the best stuff. I even had my own concierge.
I didn’t fully experience Sundance, but that wasn’t why I was there. I was there to network, build business and relationships. That is exactly what I did. I met some amazing people that I’m sure to be working with in the near future and believe it or not, it gets even better…there was a cause attached to our gathering: to raise money for the less fortunate and work towards an end to homelessness.
Homelessness is an epidemic not only in our United States, but all over the world…especially with young people. Only we can put a stop to it and it starts by simple decisions daily that we all have the power and ability to make. Don’t let the gargantuan issue overwhelm you into thinking that it’s too big for you to contribute to its end.
We’re working with Virgin Unite and Sir Richard Branson to put a stop to this issue. Over one million young people in the US live on the streets. Many of them left home because of violence, abuse or neglect. Every day, they face extreme hardships—poverty, social exclusion and often continued abuse. In fact, an alarming 13 homeless young people die in America each day as a result of abuse, illness or suicide. It doesn’t have to be this way.
