Square is a fairly new company that has released a credit card reader for mobile phones. The reader and app that goes with it are compatible with the iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. They have also kept the transaction fees to 2.9% and totally eliminated a fixed processing fee all other companies enforce. Not to mention the reader comes free when you sign up for a free account!
As of right now the card readers simply plug into the headphone jack of your phone so you need to be careful not to lose it. There is a rumor however that iPhone case designers are working on cases with the readers built in.
